1. Who we are

Lovetone is a digital guestbook for weddings and events. Guests can leave audio and video messages, photos and uploads for the couple or organiser.

2. What data we collect

Guestbook messages: guest name (optional), audio recording, video recording or photo, time of recording. This data is solely for the event owner.

Account data: name, email address, language preference and encrypted password.

Event data: name, type and date of the event.

Payments: processed by Stripe. We do not store payment details. See Stripe's privacy policy.

5. Where we store your data

Your account and event data are stored on our servers in Germany. Your guests' photos, videos and audio are stored in a data centre in the Netherlands. Both are within the European Union and protected under the GDPR.

Some of the service providers in section 7 are based outside the EU, for example for payments, fast media delivery, fonts and (only if you use this feature) drawing game characters. Data only goes there with the legal safeguards in place, such as an adequacy decision, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses. You can request a copy of these safeguards at ✉ E-mail.

6. How long we retain your data

  • Account data: As long as your account is active
  • Guestbook messages: Until 1 year after the event date — automatically deleted afterwards (everything is permanently erased within 14 days after that)
  • Invoice data: 10 years (legal retention requirement)

7. Sharing with third parties

We work with service providers that process your data only on our behalf, strictly as necessary:

  • Hetzner Online GmbH — hosting of servers and database (Germany, EU)
  • Backblaze, Inc. — storage of photos, videos and audio in a data centre in the Netherlands (EU)
  • Cloudflare, Inc. — media delivery: a network that delivers photos and videos quickly and keeps temporary copies close to the visitor for that purpose (US, global network)
  • Brevo — sending service emails (France, EU)
  • Stripe — payment processing (Ireland, EU, with transfers to the US)
  • Google Fonts — guest pages load fonts from here, and Google receives the visitor's IP address (Ireland, EU, with transfers to the US)
  • Google Analytics and Google Ads (Google Ireland Ltd.) — only if you allow it in the cookie notice: statistics about our public pages and measuring whether an ad led to a sign-up or purchase (Ireland, EU, with transfers to the US)
  • Black Forest Labs, Inc. — only if you create a game character: draws a cartoon head from a photo you upload for that purpose (US)

We never sell your data. Your guests' recordings are not used for AI training. Only the photo you upload yourself to create a game character is sent to an AI service, solely to draw that cartoon head.

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port and object to your data. Contact us at ✉ E-mail — we will respond within 30 days.

9. Cookies

Necessary cookies keep you signed in and remember your language. They are always on. We also count visitors with a self-hosted, cookie-free analytics tool.

Only if you allow it, we also use Google Analytics (statistics) and Google Ads (measuring whether an ad led to a sign-up or purchase) on Lovetone's public pages. Without consent, nothing from Google is loaded. In your dashboard we only pass on the moment of a sign-up or payment, never the content of your event. Your guests' guestbooks are never measured.

Google Analytics keeps this data for 2 months. You can change or withdraw your choice via "Cookie settings" at the bottom of the page; we ask again after 12 months.
